Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2017 is just around the corner and I'm getting quite impatient to see what designers bring to the table for their Resort 2018 collections.

Fashion Week is seen as an event that includes countless runway shows, numerous amounts of street style pictures and celebrities looking stylish in the front rows, however it is more than just the glam and the excitement. It is a platform used by fashion designers, creative directors and brands to present their latest collections and artistic ideas to buyers, journalists and consumers. Designers showcase their collections for upcoming seasons in advance as it provides the opportunity to have a preview of what’s to come before the season arrives and allows us to identify trends for the upcoming season.

The attention fashion week contracts is enormous. It plays a significant role in the economy - where according to Fashion United, the total income Paris Fashion Week makes is 66 million euros, Social media, nowadays, has allowed shows to become easily accessible. Social media plays a huge role in providing an insight to who's attending the shows, street style trends, backstage images and links to view the show live - absolutely mind-blowing how technology has developed.

Mercedes-Benz fashion week Australia has officially released the schedule for 2017 - and it’s a good one! With 44 designers set to showcase their resort collection, here are the ones to keep an eye on:

- Dion Lee will be opening MBFWA this year. With his huge success and presenting his collection during New York fashion week, he will be returning with 40 looks for his resort collection and as one of Australia’s well-established and admired designers; there is no surprise that his show will be another sensation.

- After 14 years, Sass and Bide will be retuning to MBFWA to showcase their resort collection for the first time ever. The highly creative brand draws their inspiration from culture and art and never fails to leave behind a bold statement.

- Steven Khalil, who has gained himself a name in the bridal industry, will be celebrating his 20th anniversary during this season and will be showcasing a couture collection during MBFWA for the first time to celebrate his success. His designs are well known and greatly recognised for their elegance, beauty and breathtaking details. His exquisitely detailed designs will definitely cause an outbreak during the week long event.

- Designers, Becky Cooper and Bridge Yorston will be celebrating 15 years of Bec and Bridge. With their vast success during MBFWA, they will not disappoint to deliver a ground-breaking collection once again.
